    Hi Darcy,

Thanks for the suggestion. We do have long terms plans for HTML5 support across all our supported platforms. Right now the Creately Diagram Viewer which is used to place the drawn diagrams into the wiki pages is written in HTML5. Our Creately editor is very sophisticated and using Flash has allowed us to easily maintain it and develop it. It has also enabled us to support a very wide range of users - unfortunately not every business is on the leading edge with web browsers. The editor will be swapped over but in the mean time please don't just exclude us for the underlying technology - what we have done with it in Creately will definitely enable you to work faster and have a fantastic diagramming experience.

    Thanks

The viewer is only sort-of HTML5. The actual diagram is just a png image that is scaled up or down when you use the zoom bar with the "interactive" viewer. I think when people say they want it to be HTML5 they mean that they want it to use canvas or SVG or some kind of vector format to view the diagram, not a scaled rasterized version. Honestly, I find the interactive viewer pretty useless because the view is rarely optimal. It is either fuzzy because it is zoomed in too much or un-readable because it is zoomed out too much. There is no way to tell the interactive/non-interactive viewer to view the image at it's native size. Really, the Confluence viewer needs some tooling.

    Hi Davin,

Thanks for the comments. I understand what you are referring to with the zoom affecting the quality of the image. Your assessment of how the current viewer works is right. We are planning SVG support this year although I don't have a firm timeline.

With that there may be opportunities to improve the viewer and editor. However right now if you need a close up view of a current diagram the solutions are to either open it in the editor or ensure that when created it is large so when zoomed the detail is visible. I know these aren't ideal hence we will work on improving it.

    Thanks

    Hi Davin,

I thought I should update you that we have implemented SVG import and export support. This isn't exactly what you were talking about but we are taking steps in the direction you described. The plan is to re-write the diagram viewer in the coming few months and use SVG as it's display mechanism. Once it's implemented I'll let you know again.

    Thanks

Is SVG coming to the Confluence plugin any time soon?

    Hi Davin,

Yes it should be part of the next release of Creately for Confluence plugin. But I'm not sure when that will be right now. We are just working out a few bugs in the SVG text handling so probably after that.

    Thanks

You folks have had SVG in your web product for a little while now. How about some Confluence plugin lovin'?

    Hi Davin,

We have plans for a big release in the next month or so. I'm sorry it won't be immediately but it'll be worth it. Delaying the release helps us get more in to the Confluence plugin.

    Thanks

Have you guys looked at Haxe (haxe.org) and OpenFL (openfl.org) for moving your stuff from Flash -> HTML5? It would be the easiest route.

I was about to sign up but seeing as Flash is going to be discontinued soon(ish) I didn't want to be stuck not being able to use your tool :(

The last post here was 2013 and ... well it still asks to use Flash when starting your app ...

    Hey Tarwin,

Thanks for your comment. Sorry that we have not updated this thread of late.

I am excited to let you know that we already have an HTML5 based app which is now in BETA (Creately Next). Use the following link to load the new app.

    https://app.creately.com/

We are working hard towards making this live at which point the Flash app will be deprecated and eventually discontinued.

    Hope this helps
