Creately’s line connectors enable you to link your shapes together, allowing you to create a flow or show relationships between elements.
Below we have highlighted several ways you can use our line connectors.
How to add line connectors?
There are two ways in which you can add Line connectors to your shapes:
1. Adding Line connectors from your shapes directly.
- Select your Shape
- Select Draw Connector from the contextual toolbar (Or short-cut key C on your keyboard)
- A connector will then be formed from your shape and you may connect it to another shape or the relevant data as needed
2. You can also create a connector from the pop-up + button located in the bottom left-hand corner of the App.
- Select Line from the options provided at the bottom-left corner
- Click on the point on your shape from where you want to start the connection line, drag it to the relevant connecting point, and let go to form the connection

How to edit line connectors?
There are several options available for you to edit your Line connectors. These are all available from the contextual toolbox.
Editing the line style
- Select your Connector
- Select a Line Style available from the drop-down menu on the contextual toolbar

- Select Edit Text from the contextual toolbar (Or select shortcut T on your keyboard)
- Add or Edit your text accordingly

Adding and editing arrowheads on your line connectors
Arrowheads can be used to highlight the direction of your data, such as to indicate the flow of information.
In order to add or edit Arrowheads:
- Select your Connector
- Select Left or Right Arrowhead from the contextual toolbar to add arrowheads and pick a preferred arrowhead style from the drop-down menu
- Use the Flip Connector option in the toolbar to flip the direction of the arrowhead

- Select your Connector
- Select Style from the contextual toolbar
- Customize your Line design and colors based on your preference, using this color palette

Additional options
Select the additional menu option (3 dots) located on the contextual toolbar, to access more edit options that can be used to customize the Line connectors:
- Bring to Front or Bring Forward your Line connectors that are overlapping with each other
- Bring to Back or Bring Backwards your Line connectors
- Show Line Bumps displays a minor bump on lines connectors that are overlapping with one another
Additional options to Edit a Line Connector
Changing the Line Style and Thickness of the Connector
Suppose you need a broken line or to increase the thickness of the connector line, you can do this easily by following the steps below.
- Select the connector you wish to edit
- Open the Shape Properties panel from the right-sidebar
- Click on the Line Style dropdown to select the line style you prefer
- Add a value under Line Thickness to change the thickness of the connector
